Calling all witches and wizards: Now’s your chance to show us what you’ve got. Auditions will be held by 1:1 appointment from June 3-June 22, 2024.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are signing up outside of that time period, you should be able to set up an audition for whatever the current show is. The link is the same for all shows. We have a six week on, six week off period, and the first 3-4 weeks of the off period is when I hold auditions.

All of our shows are posted on our youtube channel. It is small, but we get upwards of 350 views per show and growing.
While I do give minimal feedback during auditions, I also give feedback during rehearsals. I am not a trained music coach, but have been singing for 30 years. Performers who take advantage of the offered vocal rehearsals and apply the feedback given, tend to perform better in the show, resulting in offers for better roles in future shows.
All individuals who audition are accepted into the show, though the strongest singers will have leads and supporting roles. Less strong singers will be assigned to the chorus or smaller supporting parts.
Networking and Collaboration
While you may not have connections with industry professionals, I do bring together singers and performers, providing valuable networking opportunities for those involved. Collaborations within the show can also lead to new connections and opportunities for performers through dance rehearsals, acting rehearsals, and at the premiere itself.
The Audition Process
You’ll sign up using the button at the bottom of the page. It will lead to my calendar, where you’ll answer a few questions and sign up for an audition time. Depending on the role you are auditioning for, the process is slightly different.
All roles will require a voice test or knowledge of your full vocal range (to assign you to the correct voice part in ensemble numbers) and all roles must be willing to attend movement/staging rehearsals.
In the past, the shows have been primarily female, so I am flexible as to which gender plays most of the roles, which is why you may see more than one voice part next to a role.
Leads
For all of the following roles you will be provided both music and a script to prepare for audition. The role of Voldemort will require you to create a short dance routine for audition.
- Harry Potter (already cast)-Soprano
- Ron Weasley (maybe cast, looking for understudy at the very least)-Soprano/Tenor (Tenor preferred)
- Hermione Granger (already cast, looking for understudy)-Mezzosoprano
- Professor Quirrell-Soprano/Tenor (Soprano preferred)
- Voldemort-Mezzosoprano/Baritone
- Ginny Weasley-Mezzosoprano
- Draco Malfoy-Mezzosoprano
Supporting Roles
These roles will require a voice test as well as an acting audition using a provided script. Cedric and Dumbledore each have a solo, so a singing audition will be required as well. I will probably cast two different people as Cedric and Dumbledore (though one person could play them both if it came down to it), but one person for Cho and Bellatrix and one person for Snape and the Dementor.
- Cedric Diggory/Albus Dumbledore-will require you to sing an excerpt from a song of your choice. Tenor/Baritone
- Cho Chang/Bellatrix Lestrange-Soprano
- Pansy Parkinson-Alto
- Severus Snape/Dementor-Any voice part
Other Supporting/Ensemble Roles
These roles will only require a voice test, and aside from Lavendar Brown, may be pulled from the rest of the cast (meaning if you play a Hogwarts student other than Harry or Cedric, you would probably double as a death eater if you have the availability. If you are a death eater other than Voldemort or Quirrell, you’ll probably double as a Hogwarts student in the opening number. But, I will be casting the other roles first.
- Lavender Brown (Mezzosoprano/Alto)
- Death Eaters (All voice parts)
- Additional Hogwarts Students (All voiceparts)
Nailing Your Audition
First, I do want to say that while I do not guarantee you will get the role you want, I do accept everyone who auditions into the show. This is an all inclusive project, and I promise, even if you are not the strongest singer, the strongest actor, or the strongest dancer, I will have a spot for you.
Expectations for Everyone Auditioning
- Please show up for your audition and show up on time. Now, if you miss your audition, but reach out to me to let me know and/or sign up for another audition, I am happy to give you another chance. Things happen, and since you are independently scheduling your audition, I will not be sending an email reminder. But, showing up and showing up on time, shows me that you are committed to doing your best.
- Be prepared to do a voice test at the very least (or know your vocal range) and be ready to discuss any potential roles that might be a fit.
Audition Expectations for Leads
- Be ready to show off your singing voice. The most talented singers are most likely to get lead roles.
- I highly recommend choosing the roles within your voice part. While you are welcome to try out for any part you like, you are mostly likely to perform your best when you sing in your best range.
- Be prepared to act as well. Not all of our shows require acting, but this one does. It is impossible to fully tell the story without including some acting, as well as some movement and staging. (I do not require dance auditions, though I do want to see how you move if you are interested in playing Voldemort).
- Deliver a compelling stage presence and convey emotion through your singing.
Audition Expectations for Supporting Roles
I would ideally like to hear you sing something first. For the roles of Dumbledore and Cedric Diggory, however, this is not negotiable as they both sing solos. Cho and Pansy sing in a trio, so if you are comfortable preparing a segment of a song you sing well, that would be great. Otherwise, the main focus of the audition will be determining vocal range & voice part (if not already know) and acting.
- Be able to demonstrate strong acting ability, including conveying emotion where necessary. Singing for these roles (other than Cedric and Dumbledore) is secondary.
After the Audition
If you are right for the part, there is a chance I will offer you a role at your audition, however, do not be discouraged if this does not happen. That only means that I am not sure yet or that there are others auditioning for the role as well. I will reach out to you before the end of June to make an offer. At the time of the offer, you will be provided with a contract to sign outlining the role and your responsibilities. You will be asked to complete a survey on your availability as well for when I set up rehearsals.
I should also note that all roles, at this time, are volunteer. I do not make any money from these shows, so unfortunately, there is no money to pass onto you for your performance. Thank you for understanding this.
Conclusion
Calling all witches and wizards–Here’s what you need to know:
- All shows are posted on our Youtube channel. We may be small, but we do get views.
- Auditions consist of, at the very least, a voice test and a discussion about the role or roles you are interested in, though we would prefer to hear you sing and act at the rehearsal to allow us to consider you for more roles.
- Gender is unimportant when choosing your role, but we do encourage you to try out for the part(s) that fit your voice best.
- Please show up for your audition and be on time. Skipping your audition without letting us know or showing up late gives a bad first impression. If your audition is cancelled because you didn’t show up or because you showed up too late, you will be allowed to reschedule, however, it’s best to reschedule before the audition if you are going to have difficulties in making it.
- You may be offered a role at your audition, but if this doesn’t happen, it is not something to be concerned about. This just means that I either haven’t decided yet which role to give you or other people have tried out for the role I am considering you for.
- Everyone who auditions will get a part, though the strongest singers will get lead roles.
- All roles are volunteer only.
