We’re gearing up for our next show, and it’s time to feel some island beats with Moana Music Show starring April Cox, Kimberley Kang, Melanie Grunwald, and Jaxon Shaw as Tui. Fawkes the Green Cheeked Conure is featured as Hei Hei.

Moana
The role of Moana is played by soprano April Cox. April is a classically trained singer and flutist with a vocal range of Eb3-Eb6, and though she doesn’t show off her low range as much in this show, she sings up to a B5 in the finale. As producer, she’s been in every show so far, having played Anna in Frozen Music Show, Jeannie in Aladdin Music Show, Timon & Rafiki in Lion King Music Show, Prince Eric & Flounder in The Little Mermaid Music Show, Isabela in Encanto Music Show, and Elphaba & G(a)linda in Wicked Music Show.
Maui
Although technically a lead, the smaller role of Maui is played by soprano Kimberley Kang. Kimberley has a vocal range of G3-C6, and also has a talent for rapping, which she displays in this versatile role.
April Cox sings the end title version of You’re Welcome.
Tamatoa
Like with Maui, the role of Tamatoa is considered a lead, but is a smaller role. This role is played by Melanie Grunwald, an Alto. Melanie. has a vocal range of approximately E3-D5.
April Cox sings Shiny after the credits.
Tui
Tui is played by Baritone Jaxon Shaw. He has a vocal range of approximately G2-A4.
Supporting Roles
The roles of Tala and Sina are played by Carol Turnage and Elyssiah Hernandez respectfully.
Carol Turnage is a veteran member of AC & the Virtual Virtuosos, having joined as Atina in The Little Mermaid and Abuela Alma in Encanto Music Show. She is a mezzosoprano with a vocal range of D3-C6, but often prefers to sing lower vocal roles.
Elyssiah Hernandez is also a mezzosoprano.
The roles of Tala and Sina are played by Melanie Grunwald and Diane Weigle after the end credits. Diane Wiegle also participated in Wicked Music Show as a member of the chorus.
Chorus
The chorus vocals, including Lead Ancestor are covered by April Cox, Melanie Grunwald, and Diane Weigle with April Cox covering Lead Ancestor and soprano 1 and 2 in the Ancestors Songs. Melanie Grunwald sang Alto in both the ancestor songs and Where You Are, while Diane Weigle sang soprano in Where You Are.
Finale
The full cast sings in the finale with April Cox leading as Moana, Kimberley Kang (Maui) on the soprano 1 part, Elyssiah Hernandez (Sina) and Diane Weigle (Townsperson) on the Soprano 2 part, and Melanie Grunwald (Townsperson) and Jaxon Shaw (Tui) on the alto line.
