I didn’t start with the best voice. In fact, as a kid, I barely knew what I was doing when I sang around the house. But that didn’t stop me—music was how I expressed things I couldn’t say. By the time I hit 11 and joined chorus at school, I realized that singing was more than just something I did for fun; it was my way of communicating feelings that words couldn’t capture. Music became essential to me, like breathing.
Now, after 30 years of singing and playing music—and two years of teaching music—I can confidently say that no matter your age or experience, anyone can sing. And that includes you.
It’s Never Too Late
I know plenty of adults think, “Isn’t it too late for me to learn how to sing?” But the truth is, that’s just not how it works. Singing isn’t about being perfect or sounding like the artists you hear on the radio. It’s about finding your own voice. And as an adult, you bring so much more to the table—your life experiences and your emotional depth make your voice uniquely powerful.
Why Adults Should Take Singing Lessons
While many people think of music lessons as something for kids, singing as an adult comes with its own benefits:
- You already know what you like: Whether you love musical theatre, jazz, pop, or classical, you’ve had time to discover what type of music resonates with you. This makes learning more focused and enjoyable.
- Singing reduces stress: Music is an incredible way to relax and let go of the stress we all carry. Singing, in particular, offers a creative and emotional outlet that helps you unwind.
- Builds confidence: Trying something new as an adult can feel intimidating, but watching students gain confidence in their voice is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching. That confidence doesn’t just stay in the practice room—it filters into other areas of life too.
My Approach to Teaching

I’ve spent over a decade teaching individuals with autism, and now, for the past two years, I’ve been teaching music. I believe that no two students are alike, so no two lessons should be either. When it comes to singing, everyone has their own learning pace, goals, and style. My lessons reflect that flexibility:
- Individualized approach: While I don’t create custom vocal exercises, your lessons won’t look exactly like someone else’s. Whether you’re just starting out or returning to singing, I’ll guide you based on your voice, goals, and comfort level.
- Focusing on personal growth: For me, singing has always been about more than just hitting the right notes. It’s an emotional release, a way to express feelings that are too deep for words. I want my students to experience that personal connection to their voice.
- All ages welcome: I work with students of all ages, so whether you’re 18 or 80, you can feel confident that there’s a place for you in my lessons.
Virtual Lessons with Real Impact
Since my lessons are conducted online via Zoom, you can join from anywhere in the U.S. While all you need is a computer (preferably not a Chromebook) or sometimes an iPad, I’ll also show you how to adjust your Zoom settings to “Original Sound for Musicians.” This way, Zoom won’t misinterpret higher notes (especially for female singers) as background noise or “screaming.”
Limited-Time Offer: Free 30-Minute Lesson
To make it easier to see if singing lessons are right for you, I’m offering a free 30-minute lesson for new students, available for a limited time. This trial lesson is a no-pressure way to get started and see how music can fit into your life.
Performance Opportunities—And What’s Next
In addition to lessons, I run musical shows and auditions based on musicals and Disney movies, giving participants a chance to practice their skills in a fun, collaborative setting. While these shows are currently volunteer-only, I have big plans. My goal is to grow AC & the Virtual Virtuosos into a professional theatre company, creating more performance opportunities for adults who love to sing.
Take the Next Step
If singing has been something you’ve always wanted to try, now’s the time to start. Whether you’re looking for a creative outlet, personal growth, or simply because you love music, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
